Project Type: Residential
The Musker Street development is a design for 29 new high quality dwellings on a site previously occupied by a small commercial unit.
During the development process involving Sefton Council’s planning department our aim was to put forward a design that looked to provide an attractive public realm through active frontages, high quality landscaping and boundaries and visually interesting architecture.
The layout and massing of the development has been designed as such to provide visual nodal and reference points through the site to aid navigation and allow for natural surveillance to all of the public spaces through overlooking from the neighbouring properties. The encouragement of low vehicle speeds through visual narrowing and tight geometry allows for a shared surface approach with subtle distinction between vehicle and pedestrian areas. A variety of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units have been offered with contemporary open plan family living very much in mind.
The layout can be best described as a series of events encountered as you pass through the site controlled by the careful positioning of the units and landscaping.
