Joseph Williams, Belle Vale

Project Type: Residential / Extra Care

The Joseph Williams project is a strategic design-led redevelopment of 18 acres of brownfield land in the Belle Vale area of Liverpool by DK-Architects for Riverside. The JWS masterplan includes a 42 bed Extra Care facility, 26 independent living flats, 11 social rented bungalows and 104 open market houses with a completion date set for Spring 2015.

The proposals redress the current imbalance of housing supply in Belle Vale whilst dramatically improving the area’s brand through investment in bespoke architecture and the creation of well designed linear parks. The linear parks set out in the masterplan provide greater interconnectivity between outlying residential areas, the district centre and the greenbelt with high quality green-routes, edged with attractive buildings that populate the street scene and provide passive surveillance of the external spaces.

JWS is one of a series of projects brought through the Belle Vale Green Space Strategy, a strategic design-led regeneration masterplan for the wider area commissioned by Riverside and undertaken by DK-Architects and Planit in 2010.
